We are on our 5th stay at Kampung Kakak - over 6 years - on every single occasion we couldn't have had a more wonderful time. The location is sublime, the grounds safe, beautiful, and immaculately maintained. There are a number of bungalows of various sizes, accommodating families or singles. All are located so that a view of the ocean is available from the room, looking out over white sand, an azure ocean, and onto waves breaking over the distance reefs. There is a lovely white sand beach at the front of the property nestled in a protective cove. Sunsets are world's best. The property is run by a local Indonesian family, with Mihi the main point of contact. She is delightful, always smiling, helpful, and incredibly accommodating. Her husband, Alex, is available to shuttle out on their outrigger to go surfing, snorkeling, fishing, or just for a cruise. Breakfast is included and it's a nice time to mingle with other guests and chat in the communal eating area. Always a few good tips to be given or picked up. The property's owner, George, has been in the area for nearly two decades and is always willing to provide some pointers and help where needed, unless he's out surfing with his lovely wife. We always recommend family and friends stay at Kampung Kakak when visiting Rote, knowing they'll be well looked after, safe, and happy!
